As a Naturopathic Doctor, I’m tempted to describe my practice with a list of tools that I use, but that doesn’t really amount to what I actually do. Let me explain, Naturopathic Doctors, use a lot of tools in our clinical approach- acupuncture, herbs, supplements, bodywork, spinal manipulation and of course diet a lifestyle counselling (some even do IV therapy). BUT this doesn’t actually amount to what I truly do, these are just the tools I use to assist.
My job, more like a calling, is to empower you to be in control of your health and your lifestyle. You can’t do anything with the information you don’t have. As a Naturopathic Doctor, although I can do things in the meantime to assist in getting you pain-free, I work to find the root cause of why you have pain in the first place and engineer an approach that can be preventative.
Instead of simply “putting a bandaid” on the wound so to speak, we actually work to prevent the wound in the first place.
All too often I am met with individuals who have tried things in the past but:
- The pain keeps coming back
- The weight doesn’t stay off
- The stress gets higher and higher
- The energy and fatigue hit again and again
This is where I come in. I think that more often than not, we think being pain-free, or implementing healthy lifestyle habits is hard, or annoying even; but it doesn’t have to be. I find that small simple changes that we do consistently can actually give us the most long term benefits. When was the last time you tried to change a ton of things all at once? How long did that last? I’m guessing it didn’t. I can’t tell you how many times someone has looked me in the eye with a sigh of relief after hearing that yes we can still eat a cookie, and no we don’t count calories here. I am going to tell you to do anything that I won’t do myself- I keep things practical and easy to implement- because if it’s not easy to do, guess what, you likely aren’t going to keep doing it. Getting healthy isn’t supposed to be stressful, it’s meant to be liberating.
This is our approach. Simple steps, big impact. This is Health Made Simple.
